Well it looks like we have a surprise guest at Showstoppers tonight. Lenovo just dropped by with its just-announced K800 -- the first Intel-powered smartphone to see the light of day. The beastly 4.5-inch 720p device sample that the company had on-hand is running a highly modified version of Android, and while the interface may not look familiar, the overall app experience shouldn't be much different from what you're used to. The official spec list includes a 1.6GHz Intel Medfield processor, Android 2.3, a TFT display and an 8 megapixel camera with a maximum sensitivity of ISO 3200. For now, the K800 is compatible with WCDMA HSPA+ and was running on AT&T's 3G network -- there's no word of LTE on this version, which seems logical considering that the 4G network is a bit hard to come by in Lenovo's native China, where the device is expected to launch first. Naturally, there's also 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS connectivity. We'll be bringing you more on what's undoubtedly the hottest gadget of the evening in the days to come, but jump past the break for an early look at the world's first Medfield smartphone.

Update: With no access to Android Market, our benchmarking abilities were somewhat limited. We did manage to run SunSpider on the K800 though, which yielded a score of 1,971 -- just a hair faster than the 1,985 that we saw on the Galaxy Nexus.

Lenovo announced the IdeaCentre A720 at CES: an all-in-one touchscreen desktop that transforms into a surface-like device by just pushing the display down. The 27-inch, 10-point multitouch display is a little bit wider than a finger and connects via a moveable armature to the base where the various ports are -- including HDMI in and out. The surface's response was still a little flaky, but with half a year ahead of them we hope Lenovo will nail it. Feel free to watch us play Pong with elastic bands and poke at bugs.

This petite stick of USB-HDMI actually houses a ARM Corex A9 dual-core processor and is capable of running its own OS. But then, you knew that already, right? So what's new? Well, it's now capable of running both Android Ice Cream Sandwich and we've got Ubuntu running on the show floor. The dongle can connect to these operating systems through the USB connection and while Cotton Candy itself has no internal memory, it can all be stored on micro-SD. There's still the Ubuntu hiccups that are to be expected, but the prototype device still deals out a Firefox browser and the usual Ubuntu niceties. Marvel at Gingerbread-powered Angry Birds on a MacBook, or widescreen Ubuntu and ICS. They're all in our gallery after the break.

drag2share: Boxee Box Live TV dongle hands-on (video)

Boxee is here at Showstoppers, where they've put the Boxee Box Live TV dongle on full display. Initially announced back in November, this tool pipes coaxial signals through to a user's Boxee Box, allowing users to connect their antennas to a Box and stream select channels at no monthly fee. The system also features Facebook integration, allowing you to see what shows your friends are watching, with their profiles displayed under each show within the sidebar menu. It won't return search results for live TV programming, but Boxee is looking to incorporate this feature into future versions. The Boxee Box Live TV dongle is priced at $50, and should begin shipping by the third week of January. BenQ's XL2420T and XL2420TX gaming LCDs have been around the block a time or two, but the outfit's taking advantage of this week's Consumer Electronics Show to launch 'em both here in North America. The range is available across quite a few screen sizes (17-, 19-, 21.5-, 22-, 23- and 24-inch), with pricing hitting around the $500 to $600 mark. A bit pricey at first blush, but what'd you really expect for a monitor that's certified as NVIDIA 3D Vision 2-ready? Exactly.
